Our family has been in your neighborhood since 1973

United Brick and Fireplace was established in 1973 by Kenneth Goodwin. He opened our doors in Madison, Wisconsin with his family at his side. Since 1973 the Goodwin name has stayed in Madison with United Brick and Fireplace believing in the same family values since our opening.

In 1996, Margo Goodwin became president of our company taking us into the 21st century. We are a WWB (Wisconsin Woman-owned Business) and we are members of local and national trade associations including Madison Area Builders Association (MABA), National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), Brick Association of Wisconsin, and National Fireplace Association.

United Brick and Fireplace is Madison’s oldest Masonry and Fireplace company and our history and expertise affords us access to the best brands of materials in the industry. We make it a point that we believe in each product that leaves our showroom floor so we can stand behind it in your forever home.

Associations and Affiliations

United Brick is a registered building contractor with the Department of Commerce’s Division of Safety & Buildings for the state of Wisconsin. United Brick has over 30 years of experience in the industry and our employees are involved in the NFI certification for both wood and gas fireplaces.

Love our new gas fireplace. They took out our old wood fireplace and replaced it with a gas one. we have used it every night. The guys were great, cleaned everything up and we done in 2 1/2 hours. Dave and Chase really know what they are doing. They work great together. Answered my questions along the way of the install. Andy put up with a lot of questions from me, he took the time to make sure i understood what they were going to do and what the finish product would look like.

Andy was very helpful when we were buying our unit. Stefan and Tim did an excellent job installing the unit. We hit a minor snag where the faceplate wasn’t the right size when it arrived but the company worked with us to find a very good solution. We were making changes to the surround and there was confusion over what the final project would look like. It looks great and we have had not problems with the unit. Knocked off one star because of problems getting the work scheduled. We bought it in October and it was January before we were able to reach the scheduler to get the job done. I had to call multiple times. Not sure what the glitch in the work flow is that causes such delays. Would recommend company look at communications with customers so we feel we are being kept in the loop - perhaps email updates on order status, etc. would recommend to friends with caveat about patience and scheduling.

My wife is always cold and both of our schedules are always full. The wood burning fireplace in our new house didn't stand a chance. Andy in sales knows his products thoroughly and was able to recommend the right gas fireplace for us on the spot given the limitations of the existing brick/chimney etc . Dustin is great to work with, scheduling not only the onsite consultation and the fireplace install but also another gas line I needed help with for a new gas range. Dave and the install crew have decades of experience and the project was completed in a few hours. We could not be happier with the quality of our fireplace and the installers as well. Remember, installing a fireplace does not happen overnight.Be patient, plan about 3 to 6 months out and you will have a years of enjoyment out of your fireplace. It is definitely worth the wait.
